What's Happening in January 2014?

Dear Parents,

Times flies and we are already in the middle of Term 1.  Let's take a look at what had the children done for the past month.

We have started our Weekly Moral Education Assembly where teachers will do storytelling, role-playing, movies and songs to inculcate good values to our children.

STORYTELLING

Storytelling is an art that has mental, social and educational benefits on children.  Children are great fans of stories and love to listen to them.

In our weekly moral education assembly, we will not forget to tell a story to the children.  It became a platform for us to transfer our knowledge and values to them.

Our teachers made the assembly interesting by making use of variety of tools to teach the children good values.  One of the media we used are the online video learning resources provide by Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism website.

You may also visit the website for more information.  They also have tip for parents.

Let's sing along and watch this short music video with your child now!

Beside our newly launched weekly assembly, Chinese New Year had just past too.  We do not missed the opportunity we have in promoting values to our children.

Our children visited the residents of Blk 652 on the eve of Chinese New year.  They greeted the residents with best wishes for the new year and their handmade chinese new year cards and mandarin oranges.  In this trip, the children learn to be good neighbours by walking quietly and talking softly in order not to disturb others.  The children greeted all the residents, be it chinese, malay and indian.  It is a way to appreciate every culture, every races and everyone.

Chinese New Year Neighbourhood Greeting Visit

The teachers were preparing the oranges brought by the children themselves.

Children were queuing up and waiting patiently for the lift.
(Not forgetting to pose for the camera)

Yeah! K1/2 were on their way to visiting the resident.  Look at their excited faces.

Yu xuan greeting the resident.

It's Jonathan's turn.
Teacher Sharmini leading the K1 children.
Who's turn is it now?

Sweets-Give-Away-Time

The residents were giving out sweet to our children in return.
The children were, of cause, very very happy.

Everyone were excited about the sweets but they do not forget that they needs to take turn to get it.

Looks who had we met?  Andrea

She had done her visiting in the morning and now she was being visited and greeted by her fellow school mates in the afternoon.

Our children were posing to the camera for the resident.

Although the children were tired after visiting and greeting every levels, but it was a fruitful experiences for them.

HAPPY CHINESE YEAR TO YOU!

In this Chinese New Year, good foods are everywhere, pineapple tarts, love letter, soft drinks and etc, while promoting values to the children, we also want them to understand the important keeping fit and staying healthy.

Health on Wheel

We have invited the Health Promotion Board "Health on Wheel" bus to our centre.

SANITIZE YOUR HAND, STAY AWAY FROM GERMS

The children were getting their hands sanitized before proceeding up to the bus.

It's a 30 minutes short tour to the bus but children had learnt a lot on how to stay healthy through the interactive activities. The health care instructors had guided the children well and the children were well engaged.

We look forward for more activities next month.

Goodbye.

Cheers,

Christina
